It's time for Florida!

Every year or two, my family takes a trip to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. My mom grew up her whole life there (as did her mom). Ever since we were tiny we've been traveling down to NSB. When we were younger, we'd all stay at Grandma and Grandpa's little 3-bedroom house with the rest of the cousins (there are 19 of us!).

Oh, the memories. Now that we're all adult-sized, though, we don't really fit in their house, so Mom rented a condo right on the beach!

We haven't been there since 2010 when Jude was about 7 months old. Lance was so excited to go back and when Jude heard we were going to the beach, he asked every morning the week before if today was the day we "go to the beach". Last time, George was able to come for a weekend, but this year he wasn't be able to make it because of his work schedule. :( We were all pretty bummed about that.

August 3rd finally came around. Oh man. This day was intense. George had worked the night before but came home and went out to breakfast with us that morning. Around 11 a.m., we said good-bye to George and started our 2 hour drive to the airport.

The kids were so good in the car!

We got to the airport and after eating our sandwiches we packed and feeding Cole, we hopped onto the shuttle that took us to the terminal.
Jude couldn't stop looking around. He was so excited to ride the airplane.

Cole was an angel through it all.

We finally made it through security and to our gate. Our plane was a little late, so the boys got to see it pull up.

Lance found a comfy spot to wait.

Ready for adventure!

The plane ride was uneventful, minus Jude popping his tray table up and down constantly and Lance loosing a couple Lego pieces. Jude thought taking off was pretty neat but quickly learned riding in a plane is a lot like riding in a car--maybe exactly like riding in a car.

Cole was awake for the take off, but fell asleep for most of the short flight. This photo is courtesy of Lance.

Someone was excited to swim!

We landed and Grandma picked us up from the airport. It was already almost bed time by then (about 7 p.m.). We picked up some KFC on the way to Grandma's house, fed the boys, and then packed up again to head to WalMart to grab all the little things I wasn't able to pack. Our airline charged for every single bag, even carry-ons, so I packed everything into one checked bag and we each had a free "personal item" with us on the plane. Needless to say, things like shampoo, toothpaste and diapers did not make the cut when we were deciding what to bring. Hence the late trip to WalMart.

It was 10:30 p.m. before everyone was in bed. I tried to stay up to welcome in Mom and Amy who landed very late that night, but couldn't keep my eyes open. It had been a long, long day.
