First Day of School

George, Lexi, and I landed early Monday morning from our trip to California for Chad and Darnell's wedding. Lance and Jude were starting school the very next day, so we hurried back to Charlottesville to finish getting ready.

First thing on our to-do list: haircuts!

Lance's was at his dad's house, so it was just Cole and Jude. Every time we go, Lily asks to get her hair cut too, but it's still too short. Soon enough, little miss.

We got ice cream afterwards.

If Cole looks sad, it's because he is sad. Apparently he wanted his hair to stay "big" and was devastated they cut so much off.

It was traumatizing for him--he talked about it for weeks afterwards. :(

Ice cream helped.

August 22nd: First Day of School!

Jude started 1st grade with Ms. Massie

Lance started 5th grade with Ms. Lesser

There was quite the crowd at the bus stop! 

Waiting after school at the bus stop, the kids love to climb this tree. It's the perfect size for little arms and legs.

First day done!

They both said they enjoyed it! Jude is still in class with his friend Sage and Lance also shares a class with several of his friends. I'm so glad they had a good time!


And this little guy started pre-school later that week! His first official day was September 1st, but they had him do a "discovery day" first where he went the full three hours.

He was very excited!

His first day went without a hitch and he said he had fun...

...but decided later school wasn't that great. We've struggled to get him to be happy going and we're getting there! He's usually happy now, three months later (Dec), and says he has a good time.


So what do we do when the three boys are at school?

Costco pizza, anyone?
