Sunday came just a bit too early for us, but since it was our last day in California, we tried to make the most of our time.
Chad and Darnell had paid for us to stay at the hotel where the reception was held. It was beautiful and I'm sad we didn't have a chance to really explore the various sites and the beach that was within walking-distance.
We drove to the coast and got breakfast on the boardwalk at a very popular brunch joint. The line stretched outside for quite a while.
Lexi was happy to be awake!
We spent the morning walking along the boardwalk and watching some amazing surfers catch waves. There were some fairly young kids out there, keeping up and doing tricks with the pros.
Souvenir shopping for the kids!
We met up with Amy, Stephen and Jason for lunch at In-N-Out.
It was as amazing as I remember.
Our plane got delayed a couple hours, so we walked the beach with everyone. I can see why people would never want to leave this place.
We were supposed to catch a connecting flight in Denver, but our plane was so delayed we were going to miss it. Luckily, the airline contacted us and offered us a direct flight back to Dulles, getting in about 30 minutes after our original flight was to land. It was perfect and so much better than having to connect.
We landed around 6:30 Monday morning, just in time to grab the kids and head home to Charlottesville. The kids were starting school the next day!
It was good to be together again!
