The week after school got out is when our summer fun really started! Cue a week-long vacation at the Outer Banks with the Scholz family! Lance committed to Scout Camp up in Vienna with his Dad long before we made plans with the Scholz to come to the Outer Banks (this was the only week the Scholz could go), so he wasn't able to come. We were super bummed he didn't get to come, but Lance was a trooper and had a good attitude. The fact that by the end of the week he'd be on a plane flying to California to spend most of the summer in sunny San Diego with his Dahlquist cousins helped ease any disappointment me may have felt.
The house we were staying in had a pool AND a hot tub! After I meticulously made sure every single gate and door to the pool could be and was locked and after we laid down the law about only swimming with an adult, we jumped in! The kids would have swam all night if we let them.
I'm not sure what happened, but Lexi started out the week petrified of the water. She would sit on the side of the pool with her floats on and be so excited to swim, only to change her mind at the last minute and run away. Poor girl.
Sweet Valerie. She really is the perfect baby.
We rented a house large enough for at least two families and tried our best to get George's parents and brothers to come, but since Allen had to work and Nate was in Colorado, we ended up staying in the house alone. I thought it would be super lonely (we tried to get ANY of our family to come join us but no one was able to get away), but it ended up being really nice and relaxing. It was fun to have time at night just our family to have dinner and spend time together.
Pizza!
Let the fun begin!
