Happy 3rd Birthday Cole!

Cole was actually born on February 8th, but since he was sick for his real Birthday and his party was postponed due to snow, we didn't end up celebrating until March 1st! Even then it was sleeting and icy outside.

We were originally going to have friends come over, but when I asked him who he wanted to invite to his Birthday party, he only mentioned his grandparents and cousins. Sweet. Family parties are the best!

Cole insisted on a "Thomas party", so Thomas it was. 

This boy is obsessed with trains. Completely and totally bonkers for them. He sleeps with them, carries them with him everywhere he goes and points out every single train track we pass with an excited "train track!"

Grandmom and Pop Pop came along with Allen. Mom and Glenn hosted at their house, Jen came with Callie and Bryce and even Mason and Grant showed up!

All the kids got conductor hats to wear. Lily thought it was amazing.

Eh. The cake wasn't as fabulous as I had envisioned, but Cole was happy about it, so I guess it was a win.

And it wouldn't be a proper birthday without a piñata. I entertained the idea of making a Thomas/train piñata but then realized the store-bought one would not only be easier, it would also look much more authentic, so I went with that.

It took a few tries, and he may or may not have drooled a bit, but he blew them all out.

Cole is still at the age where he opens one gift and immediately wants to play with it, not even thinking about opening the others. It probably took 15 minutes for him to open all his gifts because he kept stopping to play.

Happy Birthday, Cole! Thank you for being ours and bringing your silly, sweet personality into our home. We love you to pieces and can't imagine our lives without you. You are a complex mix of a strong will and a tender heart and I love discovering your personality as it grows and develops. You make me laugh every day and melt my heart with your big eyes and your constant requests for "a hug and kiss". You have always been and will forever be my sweet Colie Olie. We love you!
