Happy 2nd Birthday, Cole!

Cole turned two on February 8th, but since we were already visiting family for Chinese New Year we celebrated a week early.

Jude is in love with Phineas and Ferb, so I tried my hand at a "frozen buttercream transfer" to make him a Perry the Platypus cake.

The idea is pretty simple--you print out the picture you want on the cake (reversed), cover the picture with parchment or wax paper and then fill it in with icing, starting with the outline and working your way from there.

After the picture is finished and filled in, you put the icing in the freezer to harden. When it's time to put it on the cake, you simply flip it over onto the top and peel away the paper.

Viola!

For a first attempt, it wasn't too bad. I think I could do a better job next time, but Cole didn't care the icing wasn't perfectly smooth and was pretty stoked about his "Perwy Pata-puss" cake.

We had a lot of the family in town! Laura was there with her two boys. Grant is 5 months old--look at the size difference between him and Lily (3 weeks)!

This kid is completely obsessed with swords, to the point of sleeping with his "ninja sword" every night. No joke. He has to have his sword and will cry until we find it. I always thought kids slept with stuffed animals or a special blanket. Nope. Swords.

Jen and Eric were there, too , along with Grandmom, Pop Pop, Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Amy.

I love that these boys are so close in age. They really are buddies.

Cole got this cute little wristband on this card from Grandmom and PopPop that played Perry's theme from Phineas and Ferb when you pushed the button. He put it on and refused then to use that hand for anything else. He probably listened to the song 20 times just while eating his cake. It was hysterical!

It may have been his favorite thing he got from his Birthday. :)
