Adventures with the Grandparents

When I went into labor on June 18th, we left the kids sleeping with Grandmom and Pop Pop up in Ashburn. They ended up spending an entire week in Ashburn, half the time with George's parents and half the time with mine while George and I recovered and rested in Charlottesville with Lexi and Lance.

I was worried the kids would be upset we weren't all together and would want to come home. I shouldn't have worried.

They had a BLAST!

Father's Day dinner with the Glasses and Scholz:

I don't have any pictures of their time with the Glasses, but we talked to them every day. They got to play with Callie and Bryce, run around like crazy, snuggle with Diesel, watch cartoons, read stories with Pop Pop, and had amazing food made my Grandmom.

Halfway through the week, my mom picked them up and watched them for three days, too. She knew how much I was missing the kids, so she sent me pictures of them every day.

Trying on Grandma's shoes:

Cole drew a train for Grandma. He's good at those!

An evening walk to the park with Grandma:

Watching someone play tennis:

Facetime every night:

Bathtime is awesome in Grandma's enormous tub!

Laura came over with her kids and helped Stephen watch everyone while Mom worked at the Temple on Thursday.

Trailside park:

Apparently Cole played on this train for the majority of the time they were at the park:

Friday, all the cousins went to a farm and got to see and pet all the animals.

Baby piggies. :)

Bunnies!

Cole even milked a cow!

The kids even got to go swimming! Thanks Grandpa!

Facetime again! Lily wanted to see the baby:

Jude got to have his first sleep-over with cousins! He and Mason stayed up to watch a movie, then rode bikes and scooters to a local park and played with Aunt Laura.

And it wouldn't be Grandma's house without some awesome treats!
Ice cream, anyone?

These kids are so lucky! I can't thank everyone enough for taking such good care of my kiddos while I recovered and rested. Even though I missed them terribly, it was wonderful to know they were surrounded by people who love them and were having so much fun.

I couldn't wait to snuggle my babies! A week is too long!

Welcome home, Baby Lexi!

With Jude, Cole, and Lily up in Ashburn and Lance at Scout camp almost every day, George and I had a lot of time to just snuggle little Lexi.

Bender wasn't too sure what to think about her. He sniffed her and gave her a little lick, than ignored her completely.

Lance was excited to meet her! He's growing into such a big, helpful young man. Love him!

Since we had a 24-hour discharge, we had to follow up with the pediatrician the very next day. Lexi's bilirubin levels were still high, so they ordered phototherapy. Shoot.

Glow worm baby!
I wasn't a huge fan of being tethered to an outlet, but the hum of the machine and the warmth of the light helped her sleep, so maybe it was a blessing. I slept much better that third night since my milk was coming in and the lullaby of the machine kept this baby content.

Her levels finally came down enough and we could stop the light.

Bender still wasn't too sure what to make of her.

He was extra clingy, though.

"Maybe if I sit next to this moving, crying potato, people will pay attention to me."

Hey eyes are open!

Love these sweet moments.

Lexi was crying and Lance went right over, picked her up, and rocked her until she was happy again. He's such a good big brother.

First bath!

She hated getting bathed, but loved getting her hair washed.

Big eyes.

Play with me, Mommy.
Please?

Okay, I was ready to have my family back! This week has been soooo boring! Don't get me wrong, I loved spending quality time with Lexi, Lance and George, but my arms were aching to hold my other babies.  To Ashburn we go!
