'A' is for Apples

It wouldn't be fall in Charlottesville without a trip to pick apples. George was in the middle of working nights but came anyway. He's amazing.

We went to the same place we've gone every year: Carter's Mountain. We love it and we're not the only ones. This place gets more crowded every year and even though we went in the morning, it was a very busy place.

I love that Cole cannot even pick apples without bringing some of his trains. This boy is obsessed!

Brothers. They squabble and bicker constantly, but deep down they really do love each other. I love getting little glimpses like this.

And it REALLY wouldn't be a trip to Carter's without their apple donuts. Seriously, you have to try them. Warm. I'm not a donut person and these are amazing.

Lily was happy just to be along for the ride. She is such a sinker. Love this girl.

Apple picking is so fun that we seem to fill our bags in minutes, especially with Lance and Jude on picking duty.

This little girl has her daddy wrapped around her finger.

Our attempt at a group shot:

Close enough. :) Love these things.

Lance's Birthday surprise

My mom has recently started a new Birthday tradition. Starting when the grandkids turn 8, she and Glenn take them on a trip for their Birthday as their gift. Last year they took Lance to the Spy Museum in DC which he loved.

This year, Lance got this book for his Birthday from Mom with the promise of a fun trip when Mom and Glenn got back from Australia.

Lance was pretty quick to guess where they were going: Luray Caverns!

Mom and Glenn drove down to Charlottesville on October 17th and watched the kiddos overnight so George and I could take a trip to Richmond and celebrate our 6-year anniversary. When we got back the next day, Mom and Glenn headed out with Lance for their day trip to Luray.

Lance said he had a great time!

I think he said this was his favorite part:
The water is so still that the reflection of the ceiling looks like the floor of the cave. You can't tell there's water there. Cool, right?

"Fried eggs"

Excited about his souvenir:

Thanks, Mom and Glenn, for spending this quality time with Lance! I know he loved it!
