Happy New Years!

After a quick sojourn back to Charlottesville to pick up Lance and for a dr's appointment for me (still no baby!) we came back up to Ashburn on New Years Eve to celebrate.

George's poor dad was sick so we spent most of our time at my mom's house.

These kids were thrilled they got to stay up later than usual and enjoy the good food and company.

I still can't believe how big Grant is getting!

We had a finger-food competition where we all made some kind of sweet or savory appetizer-type food that everyone got to sample. It was really fun and we definitely added some great recipes to our collection.

Stephen made Paula Deen's poker night snacks--bacon-wrapped pretzels that are baked and then rolled in parmesan cheese. It sounds strange, but they were so good!

And of course the boys couldn't be around Uncle Tyler without this happening:

George got into the action too. :)

Amy made chocolate fondu that was a huge hit, especially with the kiddos.

We missed you Jason and Chad!

Around 10 p.m., we put on some Phineas and Ferb to try and get the kids to wind down a bit.

It worked and I put a very sleepy Jude and Cole to bed. I think they were out within about 30 seconds. 

Lance, that lucky boy, got to stay up with the adults and even joined in our Telestrations game before the ball dropped! If you've never played Telestrations, it's a great game. It's like telephone, only you're drawing or guessing someone else's drawing. It makes for some hilarious rounds.
