Baby, you're a firework!

We celebrated on the 4th of July by staying home and shooting off fireworks of our own.

We had a huge case of sparklers that the kids thought was awesome.
Don't you love the torch? No matches for this guy...

Watching the show:

Lily wasn't too sure about the fireworks at first and spent the first half hiding behind my legs, gasping at the lights and loud sounds.

Cole would have been happy to play with sparklers all night.

It took a bit, but Lily liked the sparklers too.

Lance being "cool" and unaffected by the fireworks.

Happy 4th of July!

4th of July Weekend

The weekend before the 4th of July found us again up in Ashburn. George was working and Lance was with his dad, so it was just me and the younger four kids.

Even after two weeks, the newness hasn't worn off. The kids all think Lexi is great.

She may get a little too much love.

Uncle Jason! He was in Utah last time we came up, so this was his first time meeting his newest niece.

Sleepy kids.

Laura and her family were staying at Mom's house too. Laura just had her tonsils out and Mom was helping entertain the kids while Tyler was at work and Laura rested. It was a full house!

Look at all these cousins!

Cousins

Saturday was a busy day! We took the kids to the pool for a couple hours.

Afterwards, I drove to West Virginia to meet up with an old High School friend, Theresa LaGuardia. She was in town from New York.
We had a wonderful time catching up. It was so good to see her again.

I made it back to Ashburn just in time to run out the door with Grandma, Grandpa and the kids to see the fireworks at One Loudoun. It was supposed to rain on Monday, the 4th, so everyone was trying to make it to the fireworks on Saturday.

It was crowded and hot and the kids were hungry. Ice cream sandwiches to the rescue!

Almost time!

The kids LOVED it! They kept yelling and pretending the fireworks were spiders. (??)

Whew. It was a busy, crazy, crowded night, but worth it to see the kids enjoy the show.

Lance celebrated with his Dad, Abbey, Madison, Uncle Pete and Aunt Jessica in Charlottesville that night, too.

Happy Independence Day!
