Florida--Day 7: Happy 55th Wedding Anniversary!

What a day! We all went to the beach this morning and had a great time playing in the waves! The waves were pretty high (you know, 2-3 feet) and perfect for bodysurfing. The weather has been beautiful this whole week and Thursday was great.

Jude helping Uncle Brad, Ashley, and Bethany build a "pool" in the sand.

Jude, Lance, Ashley, and Bethany in the "pool".

I couldn't decide which picture I liked the best, so here are two of Jude having fun in the sand.

Uncle Brad was so nice to watch Jude while Lance and I played in the waves.

Jason

Kevin, Kailey, and Jannene boogie boarding.

Lance jumping the waves with Amy. It's his favorite thing to do in the water, that and punching the waves, which we spent a lot of time doing together the past few days. He is 100% boy. :)

Laura, Amy, and Mom

All the girls!

Jude, as usual--the sun and water really tire him out.

The Allred family

All of us!

I love the sand on Lance's face.

Uncle Chad and Lance. Lance cannot get enough of Chad...

Mom/Grandma and Jude. I was so happy Mom came down to play with us. We had a great time body-surfing and jumping the waves. I love my family!

After the beach, we went up to the pool to cool off. It was so much fun! My whole family was there playing in the water. When I think about Florida in years past, this is what I remember. Being all together have a good time playing around, enjoying the sun.

Jude didn't enjoy this as much as it seems. I did it a couple more times before he let me know it wasn't as fun for him as it was for me.

My boys love the water!

I'm trying to teach Jude how to blow bubbles. He did a good job. We also practiced going under the water and, as usual, he took it like a champ.

Glenn came out, too! He's been working on the last chapter of a book he's writing so it was fun to have him hang out with us.

Showering off after the pool.

Warming up in the sun.

That night we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa Brewer's 55th Wedding Anniversary. We went to Norwood's, a seafood restaurant that holds a very special place in all our hearts, especially my grandparents'. I remember when we were little, every time we would visit Florida, the adults would all go one night for a fantastic dinner at Norwood's. Jealous, we all looked forward to the time when we were graduated from High School (the designated cut-off) and were then allowed to go. Fortunately for those of us who were younger, only Kevin, the oldest of the group, had to reach it. I can't remember when it was or why, but our whole family started going, even though not all of us were "adults". Grandpa always raves about how wonderful the food is, so of course to celebrate we all went to Norwood's. Grandpa treated the whole extend family (I think there were 35 of us) to a full-course dinner! It was fantastic!

Our family outside the restaurant.

I love it when Lance smiles.

I like this picture a lot. We are so happy!

Most of the group. Witts, Allreds, Schiraldis, Brewers, and Simmons.

Before dinner.

Logan, Mason, Charlie, and Maria (Charlie and Maria are getting married on Sunday--the boys belong to him, and Maria has a son named Braden also.)

John John's daughters, with Caleb and Jacob (John John is Aunt Gin's son, Aunt Gin being Grandma Brewer's older sister)

Glenn, Mom, Uncle Tubby, Aunt Dawn, Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Cherryl, Uncle Brad, and Grandma's cousin (I can't remember his name...)

Chad, Stephen, Heidi, Ashley, Jason, Bethany, Jared, Christy, Bethany, Lance, me, and Jude

Laura, Kevin, Jannene, Amy, Evan, and Kailey

Wayne, his wife Renee, and Ramona (Wayne and Ramona are Mom's cousins, Aunt Nellie's children). They drove all the way down from South Carolina for this occasion!

After dinner, we all went back to our condo and had a little celebration. Aunt Cherryl got a cake and decorated it like a wedding cake, complete with emeralds like they had at their wedding 55 years ago. They even had the same punch that was served at the reception!

The grandkids all wrote their name on this plate and Heidi presented it to the Grandparents.

Bethany wanted to hold Jude. I think this picture is funny because Jude looks bigger than Bethany.

Jude and Aunt Nellie

Chad and Ashley. After the celebration and cake, we all danced to "We All Need Someone to Lean On"

And... this is what happened afterwards. They put on on a movie ("Mean Girls"). I crashed completely while waiting for George to return my phone call and didn't wake up until 4:30 a.m. Just another fabulous day on vacation!
