Summer, I think I've developed a love/hate relationship with you. On one hand, I love that Lance is out of school, that the days are longer and warmer, that the sun is shining and the pools are open. On the other, some days it's just too hot to enjoy being outside and all the extra time on our hands often leads to boredom. As the kids get older, they're less and less content to sit at home and play, which means the burden of coming up with "fun" things to do is resting much more heavily on my shoulders. Yay.
While most of our summer has been spent in and out of town, running around visiting family and traveling, we have had some nice days at home to just enjoy being together.
The boys have expressed interest in baseball, so George and I took them to a second hand store and got them each a ball, glove and appropriate-sized bats. We haven't had a chance to break in the bats, but we've enjoyed tossing the ball back and forth.
Charlottesville is great because it's full of parks, some of which have lakes! One Saturday while George was working, Scott and Lance invited us to join them at Chris Green lake in Crozet. We had a good time! Abby was there as well.

Abby took this picture of me and Lance jumping together while Scott watched Jude and Cole.
Awesome.
The weekend of the 4th, my cousin Kashia came with her husband and cute little boy to spend the night before heading back to Ohio after a week-long road trip.
It was the first time I met this sweet little guy. Such a happy baby! He and Cole had a good time laughing at each other.
Interesting story: Kashia's husband John is the younger brother of a friend of mine from my freshman college days at BYU. I totally had a crush on Drew my first year. We would hang out, run together and even went to Homecoming together. It's a small world, huh?
I've decided it's hard to entertain kids during the summer when there's so much "down time". Lance was in California for 10 days, so one day I took Jude to Michaels one day to pick out a craft.
On the way home, we stopped by 7/11 since it was their free slushy day and got some slushies. :)
When we got home, we got out the crafts: wooden snakes! Jude did a great job painting! He decided he wanted it blue with some green high lights.
Cole got into the action too with a small snake of his own.
Sweet boys!
