End of Basics and a Dance Party!

March 15th was the "End of Basic Sciences Party" for George and his classmates. It was a celebration for the Second-year Med students who are now done with classes such as Molecular Biology, Pathophysiology, and Biochemistry and headed toward the more practical learning that will occur during actual hospital rotations. Yay! It also served to rally the spirits of the Second-years as they begin the all-day, ever-day cramming before taking the Boards, Step 1 in April. We had a great time being with our friends and enjoying tasty food, especially Lance who spent the majority of the party dancing. What a guy!

Med-school wives...

...and the diligent students.

I had to throw these next few in. Lance was having such a great time dancing. I wish I was that uninhibited! He was cutting some pretty impressive moves for a 4-year-old. Way to go, Lance!

The Baby is Sleeping...

I've been wanting to start a family blog for a while now, but life always seems to get in the way. I just put Jude down for a nap and figured I'd snatch this opportunity before it passes me by once again.

I guess a good place to begin is to give you a quick snap-shot of our life right now:

George is finishing his second year of Medical School at the University of Virginia. He has one more final tomorrow and then has one month to prepare for THE BOARDS, Step 1. After that, he begins his official rotations on the hospital floors. He's pretty excited to be doing "real" doctoring instead of just reading about it.

I was working as a Labor and Delivery nurse here at UVa's hospital up until I delivered Jude on January 2nd. Now I get to be a full-time wife and mother. Yay! It's a dream come true to be able to devote 100% of my time to my family.

Lance is 4 1/2 years old and as busy as a little boy can be. We do pre-school with four other moms (it's a co-op pre-school, so we rotate teaching it in our homes) and he's really starting to enjoy it. His favorite things right now are Transformers, airplanes, and just about any other typical boy thing you can think of. He keeps us laughing with his off-the-wall comments and budding personality.

Jude came into the world January 2nd and has been such a joy! He just learned to smile a couple weeks ago and is beginning to laugh. There is something so precious about a smile from a baby. I can't get enough.

And... there's Jude. I guess that's it for now, but stay posted for family updates and pictures!
